Go to Canada, Eh. Take the Tunnel or Ambasador Bridge to highway E.C. Row.
Go East on E.C. for 20km, turn left at the Belle River Optimist Park just before the bridge. Go over the railroad tracks and into the dirt parking lot at the beach.
Scenario:
Located 20 minutes from the border, Belle River has a small sandy beach to launch from and has a big, shallow riding area!
Local Knowledge:
NE = side-onshore
N = onshore
NW = sideonshore
Border crossing is much easier with passport or birth certificate. It is also fastest to get through the border before 3 pm.
Very shallow way out here, walk far offshore before riding as there are sandbars lurking.
Usually choppy conditions with some areas of clean peeling knee high waves, bigger swells further out.
Wind is the best in the morning before 12 pm and evening after 6.
The wind is always strongest out near the end of the pier.
Booties are a good idea here, bottom is hard sand with pockets of sharp zebra muscles.
Beware the grassy launch next to the beach. It is loaded with Ninja Balls that will spike your feet and poke your kite.
Water gets warm but the cool northerlies require a little extra neoprene.
Washroom facilities are found across the river walkway at Lakeshore Park.
Epic sunset sessions at the Belle thanks to haze over Detroit to the west.
