Mitchells Bay

Rideable Wind Directions: S, SW, W, NW

Take the Algonac ferry to Walpole Island, Canada.
Turn right off the ferry then a quick left will take you into Wallaceburg.
Go right on HWY 40 about 10 km and make a right on Electric Line Rd. Make a quick left-right jog and follow the road to the water.
Scenario:
MBay is a huge, shallow, marsh laden bay that is great on SW or W winds.
A great spot for learners and advanced kiters will find some of the best flatwater slick riding anywhere.
Water launch only!

Local Knowledge:

The water in MBay gets warm early in the season and stays warm.  Expect shorty or boardshort temperatures by mid May.

There really is no way to launch on the beach due to trees, you must walk you kite out past the swim area and drift launch or get an assist.  AVOID BEACHGOERS AND BATHERS - WALK WAY OUT IF IT IS BUSY.

Do Not Ride in the swim area.  Launch and get out of there!

Avoid the boat channels which are clearly marked by buoys!  They are deep and if you make a boater come off plane by dropping your kite or messing around you could cost the boater thousands in outdrive repair.

Border crossing is much easier with a passport or birth certificate.

The whole bay is mostly hard sandy bottom.

Gets weedy in sections mid/late summer.

Make it upwind to the Planet of the Swans for the real deal.

Home of Surf Culture Canada, say hello to Timmy B.
